My Guinness World Record Journey: The Ultimate Toothpaste Collection

Welcome to one of the most unusual chapters of my life — and of this blog!
I'm proud (and still a little amazed) to share that I officially hold a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of toothpaste.

Yes, toothpaste.
Not stamps. Not coins. Not vintage guitars. Toothpaste.

How It All Started

The story actually begins in a dental office.

I spent years working as a dentist in a denture practice, pulling lots of teeth every day. One afternoon, I thought to myself — maybe I could set a world record for the most teeth pulled. I vaguely remembered hearing about a record like that, so I started digging around the internet for details.

I couldn’t find it.

But while I was searching, something else caught my eye — a small article about someone collecting toothpastes. At that time, there wasn’t even a Guinness World Record for it.
And that's when the idea hit me:
If no one had claimed it yet, why not me?

Building the Collection

Once I decided, I threw myself into it. I began hunting for unusual, rare, and international toothpaste tubes everywhere I could.

  • I bought dozens of tubes on eBay, from the common to the bizarre.

  • My friends traveling or living abroad would bring back tubes from places like Japan, Germany, Brazil, and beyond.

  • I scoured drugstores, specialty shops, and quirky websites for anything toothpaste-related.

From classic mint to exotic flavors like bamboo salt, bacon, and whiskey, my collection started growing faster than I expected.

The Road to Guinness

After years of collecting, documenting, and carefully preserving tubes from all over the world, I realized my humble hoard had grown into something bigger than just a hobby.

So I applied for a Guinness World Record.

The process was intense. They needed detailed proof:

  • Every tube photographed individually

  • Brand, flavor, and purchase details recorded

  • No duplicates allowed

  • Verified witness statements and official documentation

After months of effort, the verdict came back:
Approved. Certified. Record Holder.

What’s in the Collection?

Today, my collection includes:

  • Classic brands from dozens of countries

  • Wild and weird flavors you probably didn’t know existed

  • Limited editions, discontinued gems, and novelty tubes

  • Cultural snapshots in the form of toothpaste packaging and trends

Every tube tells a little story — of innovation, humor, culture, or marketing quirks.

Why Toothpaste?

Because sometimes, when you chase one dream (like pulling teeth for a record!), you stumble into something even better.
Toothpaste may seem ordinary, but when you look closer, it's a fascinating world — touching everything from science to art, advertising to history.

Plus, every morning and night, I get a small reminder that even the simplest parts of life can be a little extraordinary.
